Your ThriveLife Resolution - Part 1
Welcome to the LenDentonThrive Letter! My mission is to help Over-50 Guys Get Lighter and Leaner, Get Stronger, and Live Longer. We do that by building our ThriveLife!
Resolution Season 2024
Happy holidays! Thanksgiving week is finally here! And soon, it will be Christmas. And before you know it, it will be New Year’s Day and the beginning of 2024.
And, we all know what the new year brings…New Year’s resolutions!
Soon, we’ll all be dusting off our resolutions for 2024. For most of us, our 2024 resolutions will look a lot like our 2023 resolutions…which closely resemble our 2022 resolutions.
You get the idea.
Making resolutions is a time-honored American tradition. It’s grounded in the idea of continual improvement and the belief that this coming year will be better than last year. And, that we will personally be better than we were last year.
Researchers tell us that the top resolutions are the same every year, with the top 3 resolutions tending to be health and fitness-related (Note 1):
Lose weight
Exercise more
Eat healthier
Research also shows that most resolutions don’t last very long. The majority of fitness-related resolutions have run their course by the end of February every year. (Note 2) This can be seen by attendance at your local fitness centers that are super-crowded in early January and back to normal by late February.
The Limits of Resolutions
The sad truth is that resolution-setting is not a very effective way to create the transformation that we are seeking in our personal lives. If we want to generate real transformation, we are going to need something stronger than New Year’s resolutions.
In his excellent book, Atomic Habits, James Clear encourages us to focus our energy on systems, and not merely setting goals. (Note 3) He points out that winners and losers typically have the same goals. The difference in goal attainment is that winners usually have better systems in place to achieve the goals that they’ve set for themselves.
A Better Resolution for 2024
If you are an Over-50 Guy who wants to lose at least 20 pounds, then I want to suggest that you choose a better New Year’s resolution for 2024. This year, choose systems over goals and join me in building your own custom-tuned ThriveLife.
The ThriveLife is a sustainable lifestyle approach to health and fitness that will help you:
Get lighter and leaner (lose weight and body fat)
Get stronger (build strength and muscle mass)
Live longer
And, you’ll be able to do all of this without having to rely on starvation, crazy diets, killer workouts, or hours in the gym. In fact, you can even choose a gym-optional approach if you prefer.
Think of this as your ThriveLife resolution for 2024.
If this sounds interesting to you, then stay tuned. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be laying out a step-by-step plan to show you how you can begin building your ThriveLife as soon as the New Year’s Day bowl games are over.
So, if you have pounds to lose, then I have the system to help you lose the weight and keep it off. Ten years ago (at age 55), I used this same approach to lose 70 pounds. The same system has also helped me to keep it off. Today, I’m lighter, leaner, and stronger than I was at 45…all thanks to my ThriveLife. It can work for you too.
Let’s work together to build your ThriveLife.
In Closing
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope the holidays are a happy time for you and the ones that you love.
Thanks for your time and attention. Have a great weekend. See you next Saturday.
Thrive & Prosper,
Len
