Information vs. Transformation
Creating Your ThriveLife Transformation
Reading Time: 5 Minutes
I came across a fascinating quote from author Derek Sivers the other day. He said:
“If [more] information was the answer, then we’d all be billionaires with perfect abs. It’s not what you know, it’s what you do consistently.”
This is a truth bomb!
It applies across so many sectors of our lives. But, it’s especially true when it comes to our health and fitness.
We live in a world of nearly endless information. It’s right at our fingertips…sorted and rank-ordered by the algorithm.
In the case of health and fitness, you can access millions of articles and videos about losing weight and getting big muscles. And, most of the info is free.
Yet, more than 70% of American men are overweight or obese. And, the number is growing every year.
There is definitely a problem here. But, the problem isn’t a lack of information. The problem is a lack of transformation! And, like Sivers says: “…it’s not what we know. It’s what we consistently do.”
Fitness is Behavior
James Clear, author of Atomic Habits, says: “We are who our habits say we are.”
For most of us, our current health and fitness levels are outcomes of our past behaviors, or more specifically…our current habits!.
But, I think that’s good news!
Why?
Because we can change our behaviors and habits. We can build new, healthier habits that result in better health and fitness in the future. To do this effectively, we need to know two things:
Which current habits are leading to unhealthy outcomes that we don’t want?
Which new habits will lead to healthier outcomes that we desire?
Once you’re equipped with this information, you can literally change your future!
Transformation Over Information!
Transformation only occurs through a change in your behavior. It requires more than information! Transformation needs effective information coupled with consistent daily action. It’s the process of tearing down old, unhealthy habits and replacing them with better, healthier habits. It’s more than just learning new things. It’s about doing new things!
Transformation = Effective Information + Consistent Daily Action
For most of us, learning new things happens fast. But true transformation takes time. It requires practice. We have to be willing to do the reps and put in the work to develop the new habits that will bring the change we need.
Better habits lead to better outcomes, which leads to better health and fitness.
Are You Looking For A Transformation?
Are you in a place where you need your own transformation?
Maybe you want to lose some weight. Maybe you just want to look and feel better in your clothes. Maybe you want to live a longer, healthier life for someone you care about.
Ten years ago, at age 55, I found myself in need of a transformation. Fortunately, I found a way to lose 70 pounds and become healthier than I was in my 40s. Today, I’m still at my goal weight and getting healthier. Now, I’m ten years into my transformation.
My transformation approach can work for you, and I can show you how to do it.
It won’t require you to go on crazy diets or to spend hours per week in the gym performing grueling workouts. Diets don’t work for the long term. And, grueling workouts are fine for building muscle, but there’s a faster way to lose weight and body fat.
Instead, I recommend that you start building some healthy new daily habits by adopting six smart moves (new habits) over the next 30 days. You can begin working on these new habits in 30 minutes or less per day.
What are the six smart moves? I’ve shared these smart daily practices in a short ebook I’ve written called 6 Smart Moves To Your ThriveLife. You can get your free copy here.
Why 30 days?
Because most habit experts tell us that we need at least 21 days of consistent practice to develop a new habit. I like 30 days in order to give ourselves a little extra room to make an occasional mistake. Perform these smart moves for 30 days and they will become part of your new daily routine. And, you’ll notice the difference that they make!
So, I’ll conclude this edition with a question for you.
Do you want more information on how to lose weight, get fit, and stay fit? Or, do you want a transformation?
Smarter, not harder.
When you’re ready for your transformation, here are two ways I can help…

Hey Guys,
Q & A Time!
Q: How much sleep do Over-50 Guys need to stay healthy and alert?
A. The CDC says that men over the age of 50 need a minimum of 7 hours of sleep per night! Anything less is considered to be a 'Sleep Deficit.'
Good sleep is key to your long-term health.
