Quitter’s Day…Seriously??
I learned something kind of funny this week!
I learned that the second Friday of January is unofficially known as National Quitter’s Day.
Apparently, research into fitness activity (using data points like Fitbit activity tracking and gym check-ins) shows that the annual New Year’s activity spike (caused by New Year’s resolutions) declines dramatically by the second Friday in January. This happens every year. This year, it was on January 10th.
Who knew this was really a thing?
This makes sense to me. After a couple of weeks, motivation declines and reality sets in. People realize that a resolution they’ve embarked on isn’t compatible with their schedule, or they find that they hate doing it.
But it's only kind of funny. And it’s not funny at all if it happened to you!
I’ve been there myself. I’ve quit a gym program because I didn’t have the time it required. And, I’ve dropped out of a CrossFit group after injuring myself.
If you are experiencing a similar fitness resolution setback, I have a suggestion to help you regain traction and move in a positive direction.
National Reset Day??
Let’s reframe Quitter’s Day as Reset Day!
If your Plan A didn’t work (or currently isn’t working), don’t keep wasting your time and effort. More motivation and willpower are usually not the answer.
Don’t just double down. Instead, reset and move forward with a new approach.

It’s the #1 reason why America leads the world in obesity and obesity-related diseases. To eat smarter, stop eating these 6 ingredients today:
Sugar
White flour
White rice
White potatoes
Corn
High Fructose Corn Syrup
When I started following these two tips 10 years ago, I lost 70 pounds in under 7 months. Eating smarter helped me eliminate the primary sources of fat-creation from my diet. And, Zone 2 Cardio provided the most effective fat-burning activity available.
